      ਭਾਈ ਮਹਾਂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੇ ਖਿਦਰਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਢਾਬ ਕੋਲ ਮੁਗਲ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਓਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਹੇ ਦੇ ਚਣੇ ਚਬਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਜਦੋਂ  ਖਿਦਰਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਢਾਬ ਕੋਲ ਹੋਰ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਮਹਾਂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ  ਆਖਰੀ ਦਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰ ਗਏ। ਭਾਈ ਮਹਾਂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਟੁੱਟੀ ਗੰਢੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ,ਮੁਕਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਸੁਸ਼ੋਭਿਤ ਹੈ। ਓਨਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ,ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਹੈ।

Bhai Maha Singh

Bhai Maha Singh with Mai Bhago and other sikhs returned to seek blessings of Guru Gobind Singh, and joined him near Khidrāne Dee Dhāb preparing for battle against the Mughals. Bhai Maha Singh and other Sikhs fought the Mughals and died in the following battle. The guru, finding the dying Maha Singh on the battlefield after the battle, forgave him and his compatriots, tore up their letters of bedava, and blessed them for their service.The place was later renamed Muktsar, literally meaning The Pool of Liberation.Mai Bhago survived the battle and stayed on with Guru Gobind Singh Ji as one of his bodyguards. The Mela Maghi is held at the holy city of Muktsar Sahib every year in memory of the forty Sikh martyrs.
