ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਬਣ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਰਾਰਤੀ ਅਨਸਰ ਜਾਣ ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਖੌਲ ਉਡਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਭੱਦਾ ਮਜਾਖ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰਾਂ ਵੱਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਤਾੜੀਆਂ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਇਜਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਠਹਾਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ 12 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਗੌਰਵਮਈ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਰਾਨ, ਅਫਗਾਨਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਧਾੜਵੀ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਬਹੂ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਲੁੱਟਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਜ਼ਨੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਕੇ ਟਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਚਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੀਲਾ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਬਹੂ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਛੁਡਾ ਕੇ ਘਰੋ ਘਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ।

जब सिखों के 12 बजते थे तब हिंदुस्तान की बहू-बेटियों की रक्षा होती थी।
अहमद शाह अब्दाली ओर नादरशाह जैसे जालम, हिंदू लड़कियों और महिलाओं को घरों से उठाकर बेचने के लिए गजनी के बाजार में ले जाया करते थे। सिख जरनैल बाबा जस्सा सिंह आहलूवालिया ओर उन के जाँबाज साथी रात को 12 बजे गुरुता युध अभियान के तहत अटैक करते। उन्होंने एक बार 2200 लड़कियों और महिलाओं को एक साथ बचाया था । न सिर्फ उनकी इज्जत बचाई बल्कि उनके घरों तक छोड़ कर आए थे।
इसके बाद सिख जरनैल 12 बजे ही अत्याचार के खिलाफ अभियान चलाते थे। इसी अभियान का मुगलों में डर पैदा हो गया था। कहते थे कि सरदार आ जाएंगे 12 बज गए हैं, सावधान हो जाओ।
जब सिखों के 12 बजते थे तब हिंदुस्तान की बहू-बेटियों की रक्षा होती थी।
History Behind ‘Sardarji Ke 12 Baj Gaye .’
Not many of us are aware of the story behind the origin of this dialogue. This is brief history of 12 at midnight.
During the 18th Century, India was invaded by Nader Shah , the Shah of Persia. Nader Shah’s army raided Delhi in the year 1739 and looted Hindustan. Countless Hindus and Muslims were killed and the women were held captives. The only people who stood against these people were the Sardars. Sardar Jassa Singh who was the Commander of the Sikh army at that time decided to attack Nadir Shah’s Kafila. With ‘guerilla’ tactics, they attacked the Muslim camps and liberated the Hindu women from their clutches. They even helped those rescued women return home safely.
The usual time of such attacks was at midnight. The attacks were so ferocious, that the Muslims began dreading the expected attacks of the Sikhs at 12 o’ clock, midnight ” After that time when there occurred a similar incidence, people started to contact the Sikh army for their help and Sikhs used to attack the raider’s at Midnight, 12 O’clock.
